Can you change the colour of Venetian plaster?
This is a question that we get asked a lot. Venetian plaster is normally a mixture of lime, marble and colour pigments to achieve your desired colour.Once the Venetian plaster has cured, this is the colour that the finished piece will stay. So to change the colour of the Venetian plaster wall or ceiling would be impossible.
However, that’s not to say that your piece can’t be refreshed. Sometimes Hikitia can come in and add a wash, toner or wax to your project to add a new dimension or layer.
What Colours can you get polished plaster in?
It would be practically impossible to lay out all of the colours that can be achieved in polished plaster. But it is safe to say that polished plaster can be matched to pretty much any colour of your imagination. Colour matching to an colour that you already have on a mood board is tricky. It can be done but takes an incredible amount of time.
When colours are matched in Venetian plaster, it is possible to have multiple tones of your colour in the same piece of work. This is because Venetian plaster is normally multi-tonal. This is one of the beautiful features of having Venetian plaster, compared to using a paint.
