Polished Plaster, sometimes known as Marble Plaster

Once used to coat columns, steps and facades. Grassello has been used for centuries to give the appearance of marble walls. In fact, records show that the process of polished plaster has been around for thousands of years. Applied by compressing down material in layers to a very high shine. Probably one of the most labour intensive finishes that we provide. Grassello (sometimes referred to as Spatulato) needs a perfect background to go onto.

It’s made from finely crushed marble flour with lime putty, creating a smooth, high shine finish to give the appearance of highly polished marble walls. It can be pigmented to any colour or shade.

The consistency of the Grassello varies depending on how finely the marble has been ground and the quality of the lime used, which affects the texture of the finished surface.
