Marmorino (textured)

About:

Marmorino (textured)

“I regard texture similar to the function of taste buds in our mouths. But in a visual form”

– Adamo Macri

Textured Marmorino Venetian plaster is a mixture of lime putty, fine marble quartz and colour pigment.

Marble quartz is milled down to a fine powder at the quarry where it is mined, subsequently mixed with high quality lime putty and then we pigment the product to the desired colour for your project. Depending on the application technique, marmorino can be manipulated by trowel in order many styles of finishes. Either mid-sheen, where the material is built up in layers and then burnished on the top coat in order to give a subtle shine. Otherwise, the grain is left open, or “torn”  to achieve a textured finish, as illustrated on this page.

A real Venetian plaster artist will know many techniques to use with the trowel and all sorts of textures can be created. Textured Marmorino can be accentuated by adding washes on top of the final layer, when it comes to waxing stage.

Marmorino is also a popular choice of material for achieving polished concrete finishes. In this situation, we would normally add dark grey pigments until the desired colour of concrete is achieved.
